The following are common SMD ceramic capacitor models: C1005: Indicates that the size of the component is 1.0mm long and 0.5mm wide. C1608: Indicates that the size of the component is 1.6mm long and 0.8mm wide. C2012: Indicates that the size of the component is 2.0mm long and 1.25mm wide.
By familiarizing yourself with the various coding systems, such as the EIA-96 standard, three-digit codes, and four-digit codes, you can quickly identify the capacitance value, tolerance, voltage rating, and temperature coefficient of SMD capacitors.
Some SMD capacitors use a three-digit code to represent the capacitance value. In this system, the first two digits indicate the first two significant figures of the capacitance value, while the third digit represents the multiplier (number of zeros to be added after the first two digits). The capacitance value is expressed in picofarads (pF).
In SMD capacitor values, the two figures 10 indicate the significant figures and the 4 indicates the multiplier , i.e. 10^4 = 10000. Common capacitor value for SMD capacitor is almost same as ceramic and electrolytic capacitors.
