Funded primarily by the U.S. Department of Energy's Vehicle Technologies Office, the Battery Research Group performs world-leading research to develop innovative and fundamentally sound solutions to overcome the limitations of high energy density batteries.

At the Technical University of Munich, an interdisciplinary network is researching battery systems along their entire value chain. Why battery research? Electrical energy storage and battery systems have become an indispensable part of our everyday lives.
On the transportation side, the Energy Department is working to reduce the costs and weight of electric vehicle batteries while increasing their energy storage and lifespan.
