Pull the power supply module straight out of the chassis. Insert the replacement power supply module and tighten the captive screws. Replacing the Cisco 2911 Router Redundant Power Supply. The redundant power supply (RPS) for the Cisco 2911 router is an external RPS. The external RPS attaches to a connector on the front of the router.
Push INBOARD to pry it OFF of the tabs, pushing down through the hole at the same time in order to push the white case off. You'll want to hold the router by the gray if you can. As you push the latch you'll obviously need to try to pry the two pieces apart like with your fingernail. To reassemble your device, snap it back together.
Let's begin with the teardown! First, unscrew the antennas from the back of the router and set them aside. Lets get into the internals! First, flip the unit over and insert a small flat-head screwdriver in between the warranty sticker and the front panel and gently pry it open.
Insulate the soldering junction by using a heat shrink tube. Now you have to prepare the adapter to connect the UPS output to the router input. First, check the specification of your router to confirm the size of the jack ( Sleeve size ) and the tip polarity.
You will be pushing the white latch AWAY from the gray tabs. Put your flat blade to the OUTBOARD side of the white latch in the hole. Push INBOARD to pry it OFF of the tabs, pushing down through the hole at the same time in order to push the white case off. You'll want to hold the router by the gray if you can.
PSU is removed in slot 1The internal power supply is removed. The Cisco 2900 and 3900 series routers have hot-swappable fan trays and air filters that are field replaceable units (FRUs). The fan tray includes all of the router fans in one assembly. If a fan fails, replace the tray using a flat-blade or Phillips-head screwdriver.
