Considering the above, it appears timely to propose a simple and uniform classification system encompassing all battery types. Conceptually, every battery is simply made of three layers: positive electrode layer, electrolyte layer, negative electrode layer.
Two types of battery are generally used, batteries that can be used once and then disposed of and second rechargeable batteries. Disposable batteries are a serious threat to the environment as they are not recycled all the time and can reach the landfills.
Battery system is an “Energy storage device that includes cells or cell assemblies or battery pack (s) as well as electrical circuits and electronics (e.g., BCU, contactors)” [ 20 ]. Chassis/body in white (BiW) is the outer shell of the battery electric vehicle (BEV) [ 21] (p. 3).
In this publication, the delimitation of (battery) system architectures is methodologically based on the number and combination of main system levels. 2.1. System Levels Up to now, a precise differentiation and overview between the individual (battery) system architectures has not been made on a scientific basis.
For LEBs, GEBs, PEBs and SEBs, there is only one electrolyte type throughout the entire battery. In order to reduce complexity and keep the classification as simple as possible, a HEB simply encompasses any cell, which uses a combination of different electrolyte types, independent of how they are assembled in the cell.
This Classification Note provides requirements for approval of Lithium-ion battery systems to be used in battery powered vessels or hybrid vessels classed or intended to be classed with IRS.
Optimization strategy for coupled battery system design models …
Given user-specified battery system requirements, methods of Gaussian Process Regression and Classification are combined to determine the optimal battery system design in terms of costs and feasibility. An inherited mixed-integer problem is addressed by using discretization of the solution space and refinement strategies in likely optimal regions. …

Codes, standards for battery energy storage systems
Battery systems experience a decrease in charge capacity (energy capacity) over time. This degradation rate is influenced by various factors and may differ based on the technology used. While batteries in most lithium iron phosphate systems may endure for 20 years, they are unlikely to retain 100% charge capacity throughout this period. Refer to the battery …
