The purpose of the glue is to anchor the capacitor to the PCB so that it does not break off with vibration/drops. It looks like the application is not ideal in that case since there is very much glue on the capacitor and little contact between the glue and the PCB. To keep it from moving.
The adhesive is needed to prevent the capacitor vibrating (the leads acting like a spring) and moving around when device is subject to external forces. I’m looking for something like DOW CORNING 744 WHITE Adhesive, RTV Silicone or WACKER Silicone Adhesive Sealants (WACKER Silicone Adhesive Sealants - Intertronics) Take a look at these options.
What does everyone use for gluing large capacitors to pcb Everyone usually doesn't......but...... I have glued a couple when they were too large for the board...not a good idea, but it worked. Manufacturers use silicon sealant, similar to bathroom sealant. If you are UK based No More Nails is good. I would NOT use any type of silicon goop.
Ya, I tried hot glue before I posted. As soon as the caps (or the board in general) warms up the least little bit, the hot glue releases. Be aware that not all silicone sealants are compatible with electronics. If I remember correctly, the ones with a strong acetic acid smell are a no-no, because it will cause corrosion.
there is a glue for electronics,i use silicon for mirrors. For axial caps I use mainlyclear silicone, as per Fender. For radials usually hot-melt. Depends on the proximity to other components, though. You don't want hot-melt softening under heat if its close to a hot component.
Hi Michael, I think we misunderstood each other. The capacitors are leaded components that will be soldered through holes in PCB. The adhesive is needed to prevent the capacitor vibrating (the leads acting like a spring) and moving around when device is subject to external forces.

It is also my experience that corrosive glue (in isolation) has no direct impact on the capacitance of the capacitor. The glue only corrodes the legs of the capacitor and doesn''t impact upon the internals of the capacitor. Any corresponding change in capacitance is purely age-related and cannot be directly attributed to the glue (in my opinion ...

My current favorite is Dap Kwik Seal, I can buy it locally in white, black, or clear (comes out white, but don''t be fooled). I like to seal the joints with it in speaker boxes I work on, but back to the subject: I use a thick dab of it not as an adhesive (which it still is) but as a means to dampen vibrations in the polypropylene capacitors that I use zip ties to secure.

However, the potential drop (V_1 = Q/C_1) on one capacitor may be different from the potential drop (V_2 = Q/C_2) on another capacitor, because, generally, the capacitors may have different capacitances. The series combination of two or three capacitors resembles a single capacitor with a smaller capacitance. Generally, any number of capacitors connected in series is equivalent …

Soldering capacitors on a circuit board is like gluing two things together. But instead of using regular glue, we use a special glue called solder. First, make sure your soldering iron is heated up. You can tell if it''s ready by looking at the tip. If it''s hot, it will look shiny. The capacitor should then be positioned on the circuit board ...
