The key electrochemical properties of lithium ion batteries, such as ion conductivity and cycle performance, were tested. The properties of lithium ion battery was explored. Results shown that the UHMWPE microporous membrane met the requirements of power lithium ion battery.
Recently, there have been a number of reports of lithium-ion polymer batteries in which the gel electrolyte layer contains an inert microporous separator. These microporous separators are similar to the separators that are used in a conventional lithium-ion battery 4, 5, 6, 7.
Ionic conductivity results of microporous PP PP/SiO 2 nanocomposite. By assembling a 2320 type coin cell [Li/PP-SiO 2 /LiFePO 4], the performance of microporous PP/SiO 2 membrane as a lithium-ion battery separator was investigated. Figure 12 shows the charge–discharge profile of the PP/SiO 2 nanocomposite membrane measured at 0.1 C-rate.
The complete wettability of the separator membrane by the electrolyte is essential for obtaining good ionic conductivity and rate capability of the lithium-ion battery . High wettability can lead to better cycle performance with improved capacity retention and rate capability.
