The Silver/Gold caps consists of pure silver, to which 1% gold of the finest purity is mixed, providing high definition clarity and ambiance… The first in the line of Mundorf polypropylene capacitors, offers superb quality at a low cost. Extensive range of values available.
AC coupling capacitors are frequently used in multi-gigabit data links. Many current data standards require AC coupling (for example PCIe Gen 3, 10 Gb Ethernet, and so on). In addition, there exist incompatible common mode voltages between drivers and receivers, for which AC coupling is the simplest means to solve this problem.
On the other hand, to preserve low frequency data content, required coupling capacitance is in the range of 0.1 mF to 4.7 mF, with self-resonances in the 100s of MHz. In some cases, the approach is to use the “best” capacitors available (for example, low ESR), intended for power supply decoupling, and hope that it is good enough.
Ceramic surface mount capacitors are frequently used for AC coupling in multi-Gbps applications where they are required by a standard or needed to connect two devices with incompatible I/O common mode voltages. The tendency is to use the highest quality coupling capacitors available.
To demonstrate that the capacitor value has a negligible effect on high-speed signals in the 10 Gbps range, a simple fixture ( Figure 4 ) was used. This consisted of two SMA connectors linked by a 4-inch 50 W microstrip trace with a single 0402 capacitor in the path. The capacitor footprint has ground relief to compensate for parasitic capacitance.
1. One capacitor manufacturer, for example, recommends a pad size of 28 x 35 mil (0.63 mm 2) for an 0402 ceramic SMT capacitor. 0402 capacitors are often used for AC coupling applications as a good compromise between performance and occupied area.

Angle-resolved plasmonic photocapacitance of gold nanorod …
The changes in the spectral positions can be attributed to the plasmon coupling between the gold nanorods; the relative decrease or increase in energy (relative to the longitudinal mode of a non-interacting rod) is indicative of the formation of gold nanorod dimers oriented in parallel and perpendicular directions, respectively. However, the ...

Coupling & Bypass Capacitors
2.0 - Coupling Capacitors. The purpose of a coupling cap is to pass the wanted audio (AC) signal, while blocking any DC from preceding stages or source components. DC will cause pots to become noisy (scratching noises when operate), and cause relatively loud clicks when (if) muting relays or similar are used. Since DC carries no audio ...

Capacitors for Coupling and Decoupling Applications
Coupling capacitors. Coupling capacitors are used in electronic circuits to pass the desired AC signal and block unwanted DC components. These unwanted DC signals come from electronic devices or preceding stages of an electronic circuit. In audio systems, DC components affect the quality of the desired signal by introducing noise. Furthermore, DC …

This technique helps to isolate the DC bias settings of the two coupled circuits. Capacitive coupling is also known as AC coupling and the capacitor used for the purpose is also known as a DC-blocking capacitor. Coupling capacitors are typically in series with the signal. Both types are typically common non-polarity-specific ceramic capacitors.

How to find coupling and decoupling capacitor values?
In the case of (AC) coupling capacitors you want the most optimum capacitor for your signal frequencies. In practice the actual value of the capacitor does not matter too much as long as it is "enough". For example, to suppress a supply ripple of 100 Hz, a 10 nF capacitor isn''t going to help much. A 100 uF capacitor will help but so will a 47 ...
