The performances of solar thermal energy storage systems A TES system consists of three parts: storage medium, heat exchanger and storage tank. Storage medium can be sensible, latent heat or thermochemical storage material . The purpose of the heat exchanger is to supply or extract heat from the storage medium.
In high temperature side, inorganic materials like nitrate salts are the most used thermal energy storage materials, while on the lower and medium side organic materials like commercial paraffin are most used. Improving thermal conductivity of thermal energy storage materials is a major focus area.
This review discusses the latest advancements in the field of novel materials for solar photovoltaic devices, including emerging technologies such as perovskite solar cells. It evaluates the efficiency and durability of different generations of materials in solar photovoltaic devices and compares them with traditional materials.
Hence, the development of materials with superior properties, such as higher efficiency, lower cost, and improved durability, can significantly enhance the performance of solar panels and enable the creation of new, more efficient photovoltaic devices. This review discusses recent progress in the field of materials for solar photovoltaic devices.
2. The properties of solar thermal energy storage materials Applications like house space heating require low temperature TES below 50 °C, while applications like electrical power generation require high temperature TES systems above 175 °C .
This type of storage system is a passive system and used very often for temperatures up to 100 °C in conjunction with solar air heaters. The system will have loosely packed solid material like quartzite rock and silica sand, through which the HTF (usually air) is circulated.
