Abstract: In this work, the smart solar-powered street light system has been designed and implemented in the laboratory. Optimal sized Lithium-ion battery bank is designed and connected with the street light system to fulfill the objective of efficient utilization of available solar energy.
The solar street light is typically consisted by solar panel, junction box, inverter, led street light, battery and control system, etc. A lot of electrical/electronic devices are integrated in a small and limited space. It’s no doubt that, lightning and harmful surge are the disasters.
There are numerous street lights that have to operate in very harsh weather conditions. These conditions make the solar street lights very susceptible to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge). Accept for ESD improper bonding, grounding or transient protection is the leading cause for lightning damage.
Integrated led solar street light is relative to the split solar street light, simply put is the battery panel, battery, controller, LED light source concentrated into one, made into a light head, and then configure the light pole or pick arm installation you may have noticed that.
Many of the solar street lights have a converter for converting the solar panel output voltage to the necessary voltage for charging the internal battery pack and LED operating voltage.
