AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) software that when used in solar PV design, allows solar designers and engineers to create precise 2D and 3D CAD solar panel drawings, plant layouts and blueprints to help in the process of solar installation.
The schematic process flow for the fabrication of a PV module is shown in Fig. 2. In the interconnection step, solar cells in one column of the PV module are soldered either manually or by a tabber and stringer machine. These strings are typically inspected by electroluminescence imaging to identify defects early on in the production process.

Space requirements and layout for photovoltaic and solar water heating system components should be taken into account early in the design process.
For real-world applications, photovoltaic modules are fabricated by electrically connecting typically 36 to 72 solar cells together in a so-called PV module. A PV module (or panel) is an assembly of solar cells in a sealed, weather-proof packaging and is the fundamental building block of photovoltaic (PV) systems.
The voltage output of a typical solar cell at maximum power point is about 0.5 V at 25 ºC, and consequently, the output voltage of a 72-cell module is 36 V (or higher if the individual cells have higher voltage) when connected in series while the current is identical to the lowest maximum power current of the solar cells in the module.
Grid connection for commercial solar power plants is often 11 kV or higher, so it’s usually necessary to step up the voltage using one or more transformers. The type of transformer should be selected based on the required capacity, its position within the electrical system, and the physical location and environmental conditions of the site.
