Jan De Nul, ENGIE and Equans launch a pilot project centred around the use of Vanadium Redox Flow batteries on industrial scale. This type of battery, which is still relatively unknown to the general public, could become a safe and sustainable complement to the widely-used lithium-ion battery.
One tank holds vanadium with a more positive charge, while the other tank holds vanadium with a more negative charge. You can think of them like the + and - sides of the batteries sitting in a TV remote or a flashlight. Every tank is hooked up to a set of pipes that pump vanadium into battery cells stacked in cabinets on the second floor.
Combined with the energy storage application scenarios of big data industrial parks, the collaborative modes among different entities are sorted out based on the zero-carbon target path, and the maximum economic value of the energy storage business model is brought into play through certain collaborative measures.

Australia, South Africa and the United States also produce vanadium, but in much smaller quantities.
