The increasing integration of intermittent renewable energy sources has significantly intensified the demand for flexible resources. In this context, concentrating solar power (CSP) stands poised to play a critical role due to its controllable and dispatchable capabilities.

However, the dearth of guidelines for modeling CSP in power system optimal planning and operation hinders accurate characterization of CSP’s operational properties.
As a clean and controllable power generation technology, CSP has become a crucial option for flexible power generation in high RE penetrated power systems. This paper proposes a CSP modeling framework for power system optimal planning and operation, and comprehensively reviews the common CSP models and research status of the corresponding RPs.
Therefore, to increase the investment willingness of power generators and to promote the development model of hybrid RE sources with CSP integration, many scholars conduct research on the optimal generation schedule or bidding strategy aimed at maximizing the profit of market participants (RP6).
Concentrating solar power (CSP) plants use mirrors to concentrate sunlight onto a heat receiver, which collects and transfers the solar energy to a heat transfer fluid. The fluid can be used to supply heat for end-use applications or to generate electricity through conventional steam turbines.
