In previous work, Yu et al. fabricated an all-weather electric and solar-thermal steam generation device with an evaporation rate of 11.73 kg m -2 h −1 by preparing wood-derived hydrophilic and porous carbon structures, generating grooves on their top surfaces and coating with hydrophobic carbon nanoparticles .
Finally, through the photothermal-electrothermal integrated system ( Scheme 1b and c ), the self-made all-weather steam generator achieves ultra-high evaporation rates of 8.04 and 11.70 kg m -2 h −1 under the irradiation of 5 V + 0.5 sun and 5 V + 1 sun, respectively, which is outstanding among similar products.
Solar-based photothermal conversion materials (PTCMs) play a crucial role in solar steam generation, which needs to simultaneously satisfy the conditions of high broadband absorption of solar energy, fast upward transport of water molecules, low thermal conductivity in wet state, and good hydrophilic properties , .
On one hand, the device can directly convert solar into heat through PTC effect of ZCTP aerogels, and on the other hand, it can also convert the electrical energy stored in the solar panel into heat energy that required for water evaporation with ZCTP aerogels through electrothermal effect. Fig. 5.
