When designing a battery pack, it is important to weigh different parameters against each other to acheive a suitable design. It is therefore significant for these tradeoffs to have a valid foundation to stand on. One tradeoff that needs to be accounted for is comparing safety of the battery against its weight.

How many modules are in a car battery pack?

The BMS and power relays can be found inside the pack whereas the DC-DC converter, HV controller and other HV units are mounted in other parts of the vehicle. Furthermore, the pack consist of ten modules, divided in two rows and two levels with the lower modules containing 30 cells and the upper modules 24.

How do you test a battery pack?

Use a multimeter to measure the overall voltage of the battery pack. Verify that individual cell voltages are within the manufacturer's specified range. Charging Test: Begin charging the battery pack and monitor the BMS operation. Discharging Test: Connect a load to the battery pack and observe the discharge process.

The packs’ primary components are the modules, often connected electrically in series and constructed by a set of cells. Connecting the BMS: B- Terminal: Connect to the main negative (-) terminal of the battery pack. B+ Terminal: Often already connected internally; check your BMS specifications. B1 (or B0): Connect to the most negative point (first cell's negative terminal). B2, B3, ...: Connect sequentially to the positive terminals of each cell in series.
