The research on scheduling and transportation optimization provides valuable reference schemes for vehicle transportation scheduling in the new transportation mode of battery-swapping trucks in open-pit mines. However, previous studies have primarily focused on traditional fuel trucks and new energy electric trucks.
The transportation scheduling plan for battery-swapping trucks should optimize route selection among the various shovel points, crushing stations, and battery-swapping stations, minimizing queue wait times at each point. This optimization aims to reduce transportation costs and enhance material transport efficiency. Figure 1.
The transportation cost for a Chevrolet Volt battery (500 lbs) from Detroit to Lancaster, OH is $2.50 per pound. This cost is quoted from the USPS large freight and hazardous materials division. Transportation is assumed to be 40% of variable costs for recycling, which also include collection and processing.
It refers to the transportation of fully charged batteries (full batteries) from renewable energy power stations to cities through existing transportation systems such as railways, highways and ships, and the return of batteries (empty batteries) used in cities to renewable energy power stations for charging.
To address this issue, some open-pit mines have adopted battery-swapping trucks as a means to reduce transportation costs . Battery-swapping technology, initially gaining traction in the early 2020s, allows electric trucks to replace depleted batteries with fully charged ones, significantly reducing downtime.
After arriving at a battery-swapping station, a truck leaves fully charged (100%) after swapping the battery, with no limit on the number of battery swaps during a single shift. The maintenance costs due to truck malfunctions during a shift are determined based on the transportation distance.
