These sectors currently are growing at healthy rates, typically 6%-11% for industrial, automotive and communications and as much as 20% for consumer multi-screen devices ensuring continued growth in demand for tantalum capacitors going forward. Manganese Dioxide (MnO 2) is the longest established cathode technology for solid tantalum capacitors.
Tantalum capacitors are manufactured from a powder of pure tantalum metal. A typical particle size for a high voltage powder would be 10 μm. By carefully choosing which powder is used to produce each capacitance/voltage code the surface area can be controlled. Powders with large particle size are used to produce high voltage capacitors.
