The moisture stability of halide perovskite films and solar cells is reviewed. The water effects on perovskite solar cells are systematically discussed. Recent measures taken to improve the moisture stability are summarized. The challenges and outlooks towards more stable PSCs are proposed.
Environmental factors like moisture, heat, and light can all adversely affect PSC performance and limit device lifetime. In this review, we refer to the literature addressing the moisture induced stability issue of perovskite based solar cells.
Moreover, moisture could provide an aqueous environment to enhance the diffusion length of mobile ions in the precursors, thereby assisting the recrystallization along with grain growth and ending up with a high-quality perovskite film with enhanced charge mobility. [ 26 ]

Both mesoporous and planer structures are known to deliver high efficiency and stable solar cells, however, the comparison of stability of two different structures is still under debate 7,20 though there are several reports published in literature claiming the advantage of one structure over other. 21,22
Therefore, modified electrodes can bring positive effect on improving the moisture stability of the PSCs.
