China Southern Power Grid Energy Storage, the energy storage division of China Southern Power Grid, has commissioned a 10 MWh sodium-ion battery storage station in Nanning, southwestern China. The company said the facility is the first large-scale project of its kind in China, and the first phase of a 100 MWh global project.
China Southern Power Grid has deployed a 10 MWh sodium-ion battery in China’s Guangxi Zhuang region. It is the first phase of a 100 MWh project. China Southern Power Grid Energy Storage, the energy storage division of China Southern Power Grid, has commissioned a 10 MWh sodium-ion battery storage station in Nanning, southwestern China.
It is estimated that the station can export 1.2 million kilowatt-hours of green power per day. An energy storage station plays a key role in building new-type power systems and supporting realization of China's "dual carbon" goals of peaking carbon dioxide before 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality before 2060.
The Baotang energy storage station in Foshan, South China's Guangdong Province, the largest of its kind in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), is now in operation. It is the largest grid-side individual energy storage station built in one continuous construction period.
Guangzhou Pumped-storage Hydropower Plant, established in December 1991, was located in Conghua District of Guangzhou and responsible for the management of pumped-storage hydropower stations in Guangzhou. The power plant consists of 8 reversible pumped storage units of 300 MW. The total installed capacity is 2.4 GW.
Construction of the Meizhou Baohu energy storage power plant started in October 2022 and all the equipment was connected to the grid this February.
