In this issue, charts showing efficiency improvements since 1993 are included as well as cell and module area definitions and an updated list of recognized test centres. Dive into the research topics of 'Solar Cell Efficiency Tables (Version 57)'. Together they form a unique fingerprint.
All efficiencies were measured by one or more accredited test centers under standard test conditions (e.g., 1,000 W/m2, 25°C). The Solar Cell Efficiency Tables are traditionally published twice a year, typically in January and July. The article title has remained the same with the inclusion of an updated version number.

firmed efficiencies for solar cells and modules are presented. Guidelines for inclusion reviewed. An appendix describing temporary electrical contacting of large-area solar
Another new result is for a nominally pure-sulphide CZTS solar cell with efficiency increased to 12.1% for a small-area (0.2 cm2) cell fabricated by the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney and again measured at NPVM.
There are also certain minimum values of the area sought for the different device types (above 0.05 cm 2 for a concentrator cell, 1 cm 2 for a one-sun cell, 200 cm 2 for a ‘submodule’ and 800 cm 2 for a module). In recent years, approaches for contacting large-area solar cells during measurement have become increasingly complex.
