Report: Seahawks seek multiple medical opinons on Sam Darnold's injury
The Seahawks have taken the concept of a second opinion to the next level. And the next. And the next. tbzikra.com
Via Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Seattle is "gathering four second opinions" regarding the injury suffered on Wednesday night by quarterback Sam Darnold. Glazer explains that the injury is to a tendon in Darnold's glute. The initial fear was a season-ending fractured hip socket.
The purpose of the multitude of opinions is to determine Darnold's expected absence, along with devising the plan of attack for getting him back to full strength.
For now, Darnold will miss the Week 2 game at Arizona. Beyond that, Darnold's availability remains to be seen.
Drew Lock presumably will be the starter in Darnold's absence; the Seahawks also have 2025 third-rounder Jalen Milroe on the roster.
Ravens extend lead to 14-6 after Daniel Jones interception
Daniel Jones started off well in his return to the Colts' lineup, but the second offensive possession did not turn out as well.
Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith got his hands on a Jones pass and then reeled it in for an interception that set Baltimore up at the Colts' 31-yard-line. The home team looked like they might limit the Ravens to a field goal attempt, but Lamar Jackson had a trick up his sleeve.
Jackson avoided a heavy pass rush on a third down and broke free for a 16-yard gain that got just enough yardage for a first down. The Colts challenged that he stepped out before getting a first down, but replay upheld the call and Derrick Henry ran it in for a touchdown a couple of plays later.
The score is now 14-6 Ravens with just over four minutes to play in the first half.
Zverev vs Shelton: US Open Final
Ben Shelton is set to face Alexander Zverev in the 2026 US Open men's final, describing the match as a chance to 'put it all out on the line.' Shelton noted this tournament has taken him to 'uncharted territory' as he's in positions he's never experienced before.
Shelton characterized Zverev as 'a big, powerful guy' with 'massive serve, massive groundstrokes.' The American highlighted how different this final feels compared to his 2020 grand slam debut, expressing anticipation for a 'fantastic feeling' playing in a sold-out Arthur Ashe Stadium.
