The Bafang mid-drive motor is not for everyone. Installation can be challenging and the motor will need periodic maintenance. It is nonetheless an excellent option, and the result will be a bike that looks more like a factory-produced e-bike.
The 750w version is the most popular, offering the most bang for your buck! Externally, the motor is the same as the lower-powered BBS01 250w / 350w, the only difference being the internals and controller. The voltage figures in brackets are for a fully charged battery. Note: As the voltage drops, so will the power.
Most installations I have carried out have used 52v batteries, which, when fully charged, are around 58.8v; this is very close to the motor controller’s maximum operating voltage of 60v. My only controller failures have been on bikes with a 52v battery fitted.
