I would look for a capacity above 4000mah and a discharge rate of at a minimum 20C. That would be adequate for any stock Tamiya vehicle. You will have to look around for certain packs that will fit the oval shaped battery holders of most Tamiya cars. Most LiPo packs are rectangular of course.
Tamiya connector was designed for 1Amp draw. But many upgraded motors will draw more than that. It will be fine if you are using the silver can. But you don't really need LiPos in that case) 4) C rating. This is how much energy the battery can squeeze out in given time. Think of it as opening the floodgate to the max.
The discharge rate – the ‘C’ rating – is an important consideration in Lipo batteries. A Lipo pack can theoretically deliver a maximum current of the C rating multiplied by its capacity in amps – for example, a 1600mAh pack rated at 40C can theoretically deliver 64 amps.
Many older Tamiya cars were designed for hard plastic cased (or ‘packed’) 6 or 7.2v cell Nicad batteries.
The marking on it says 70C-7200-2s1p This marking indicates the discharge current stated with a C rating, where 1C equals to the nominal current. So, in a 7200mAh battery 1C equals to 7,2A which equals to 70C = 70*7,2=504A. This means that the maximum discharge rate is 504A. C rate indicates the maximum discharge current of a battery.
This means that the maximum discharge rate is 504A. C rate indicates the maximum discharge current of a battery. This should match the amount of current your car draws. C-rate doesn’t determine the maximum speed of your car, but it impacts the throttle response. If the C rate is too low, it might result in a rubber band-like throttle response.

Storage - It''s recommend to discharge your batteries to a "storage" voltage. Doing so will extend the life of your batteries. Many chargers actually have a "storage discharge" mode for this, which will generally discharge your batteries to 3.8v per cell. I would also recommend placing your batteries in LiPo bag while storing them.

I discharge my 3800 mah/110C lipos with a 6.5t brushless motor in around 6 minutes. 3800mah means it can provide 3.8 amps for an hour, 6 mins is 1/10 of an hour, so an average discharge rate of 38 amps (but think the motor can pull 90Amps)

20C, 30C, 30C LiPo What''s the difference?
C is also the discharge time at max current. 20C is 60/20 or 3.0 minutes. 30C is 60/30 or 2.0 minutes. If your flights at 100% throttle are always longer than 3 minutes than a 20C battery is plenty. This is just another way to see what battery you really need.

Apparently a discharge rate of half the "continuous" rating is considered ideal – e.g. a battery rated at 40C maximum will likely have a 30C continuous rating – and should be used in applications where no more that 20C is required. The most common type of battery connector that you will come across is called the ''mini Tamiya'' connector. It is the standard connector that is fitted to most airsoft rifles. Standard Tamiya batteries are larger than the mini Tamiya. Because space within the battery compartment is limited, standard Tamiyas are less common.

If you hook up a full battery to the charger, it will put in virtually nothing because it is already full.
