Often, the capacity and voltage of batteries are tagged on their bodies, while some other performance parameters are stated in the battery specification sheets [9, 10], in addition to the nominal voltage and capacity. Others (those unspecified) need to be determined.
In the same vein, certain parameters are used to specify/describe a battery. Here, we briefly discuss battery parameters in two perspectives or categories: from the consumer perspective—considering the battery performance parameters, and from the manufacturer perspective—considering the battery make-up/component parameters.
Critical parameters include the form factor (shapes and dimensions) of the battery, choice of materials for the main component, and factors affecting performance such as the electrochemical potential window, electrochemical reaction chemistry, conductivity, efficiency, and thermodynamics.
Experiments are defined using only three design variables making our approach computationally efficient. The methodology is demonstrated using the Doyle-Fuller-Newman battery model for eight parameters of a 2.6 Ah 18,650 cell.
In-depth algorithms and models are used by advanced battery management systems to continually monitor and assess the condition of health of batteries in real-time. The standard operating voltage of a battery is indicated by a reference value known as nominal voltage.
The temperature equalization refers to reducing the temperature difference within the battery pack to prevent the rapid decay caused by local overheating in the battery [24, 196, 197]. The cooling and heating are mainly to adjust the battery temperature according to the possible influence of the external environment on the battery.
