In the design and manufacturing stage of photovoltaic cells, the ideal factor n of photovoltaic cells should be controlled to take the optimal value and the component with a larger current temperature coefficient should be selected to make the output of photovoltaic cells stable and efficient.
The FF (Fill Factor) is a parameter that informs about the quality of the photovoltaic cell. It is defined as the ratio of the maximum power of the cell to the theoretical maximum power field [24–28].
The PV cell efficiency is inversely proportional to the temperature due to the band gap properties of silicon, which is due to the inherent characteristics of the solar cell. When temperature increases, the reverse saturation current of the solar cell increases and thereby reduces the open circuit voltage of the cell.
As photovoltaic penetration of the power grid increases, accurate predictions of return on investment require accurate prediction of decreased power output over time. Degradation rates must be known in order to predict power delivery. This article reviews degradation rates of flat-plate terrestrial modules and throughout the last 40years.
Above the short-circuit point, the PV cell operates with a resistive load. Between the short-circuit point and the knee of the curve, the output power depends on the voltage because the current is essentially constant.
According to the principle of diode: (2) I D = I o ( exp q n V + I R s n n K T − 1) where Io is the reverse saturation current in the diode; V is the output voltage of the PV cell; q is the electric charge; n is the diode ideality factor; K is the Boltzmann constant; and T is the surface temperature of the PV cell.
