Aside from the rooftop solar PV auctions, France also held a ground-mounted tender in March of this year, which awarded nearly 1GW of PV capacity. After awarding over 500MW of capacity in the fifth tender, held in August 2023, the numbers have dwindled in the following auctions, as shown in the chart below.
October 21 (Renewables Now) - France has selected 600 MW of wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in its latest tender for renewable energy capacity, Barbara Pompili, the Minister of the Ecological Transition, announced. Almost 100 wind and solar proposals will be awarded tariffs, according to the announcement on Tuesday.
The French government has awarded 179MW of solar PV in its most recent rooftop solar PV tender, half the amount of the previous auction. In total, the seventh rooftop PV auction ended up awarding 50 projects with an average price of €101.69/MWh (US$110.9/MWh).
The average tariff for successful projects in the fifth round was €81.90/MWh (US$89.22), open to projects between 500kWp and 30MWp. The capacity ceiling was lifted for projects proposed on degraded lands, such as brownfield industrial sites or quarries. PV Tech has been running PV ModuleTech Conferences since 2017.
The goal is simple: to map out the PV module supply channels to the U.S. out to 2026 and beyond. 912MWp of solar PV was awarded in the French government’s most recent ground-mounted solar tender, which closed this week.
