(Bloomberg/Qilai Shen) Bloomberg — China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd., the world’s biggest maker of batteries for electric vehicles, is considering at least two locations in Mexico for a manufacturing plant to potentially supply Tesla Inc. (TSLA) and Ford Motor Co. (F).
During the period, revenue from batteries and related items business amounted to Rmb11.5 million, representing an increase of 9.7% over the year-ago period. The increase in revenue from batteries was contributed by the 19.4% growth rate in the Chinese market and 0.3% overseas.
Wang Xiaoshen, chief executive of Ganfeng Lithium, said the Mexican facility could recycle batteries from Tesla cars as well as Chinese electric buses in use across Latin America, from Santiago in Chile to Medellín in Colombia.
