Circuit Connections in Capacitors - In a circuit, a Capacitor can be connected in series or in parallel fashion. If a set of capacitors were connected in a circuit, the type of capacitor connection deals with the voltage and current values in that network.
When capacitors are connected in series, the effect is similar to a single capacitor with increased distance between the two plates resulting to reduced capacitance. The total capacitance value is less than any of the initial value of the capacitors. Below is a schematic diagram showing the equivalent circuit of the combined capacitor:
Following the same formula, if simply two capacitors are connected in series, then Where C 1 is the capacitance across the 1 st capacitor, C 2 is the capacitance across the 2 nd capacitor and C 3 is the capacitance across the 3 rd capacitor in the above network. The voltage across each capacitor depends upon the value of individual capacitances.
While using an Electrolytic capacitor care should always be taken to connect the positive pin to the positive of the circuit and the negative pin to the negative of the circuit. Also the voltage appearing across the capacitor terminals should always be less than the rated capacitor voltage (V).
If a set of capacitors were connected in a circuit, the type of capacitor connection deals with the voltage and current values in that network. Let us observe what happens, when few Capacitors are connected in Series. Let us consider three capacitors with different values, as shown in the figure below.
The total voltage across the series capacitors circuit, Where V c1 is the voltage across the 1 st capacitor, V c2 is the voltage across the 2 nd capacitor and V c3 is the voltage across the 3 rd capacitor in the above network. The total amount of Current that flows through a set of Capacitors connected in series is the same at all the points.

Capacitor
In electrical engineering, a capacitor is a device that stores electrical energy by accumulating electric charges on two closely spaced surfaces that are insulated from each other. The capacitor was originally known as the condenser, [1] a term still encountered in a few compound names, such as the condenser microphone is a passive electronic component with two terminals.

The types of capacitors are categorized as follows based on polarization: Polarized; Unpolarized. A polarized capacitor, also known as an electrolytic capacitor, is a crucial component in an electronic circuit. These capacitors are used to achieve high capacitive density. Unpolarized capacitors are preferred over fully charged capacitors.
