Two of the available alternatives to internal-combustion engines are battery and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. This work investigates the basic functionalities and current advancements of battery and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.
Şefkat and Özel experimentally validated the energy and thermal management model for a mini-hydrogen fuel cell-battery hybrid electric vehicle and noted an approximate 9.1 % reduction in total energy consumption and around 7–11 % increase in energy efficiency depending on the ambient temperature.
This study critically analyses the recent works related to hydrogen fuel cell integration into vehicles, modelling and experimental investigations of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles with various powertrains. This study also reviews and analyses the performance, energy management strategies, lifecycle cost and emissions of fuel cell vehicles.
Hydrogen-powered vehicles, with their high performance and the convenience offered by fast refueling times, can complement battery electric vehicles to achieve a broad decarbonization of transport segments. Decarbonizing industrial energy uses (5).
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles completely on batteries. As a main energy source, hydrogen is used for fuel cell electric vehicles. They generate no pollutants from the exhaust and emit no greenhouse gases engines . electric vehicle, with h ydrogen being transformed into electricity. The hydrogen gas is inside the vehicle.
Battery electric vehicles exhibit higher overall fuel efficiency as long as they are not too heavy due to large battery sizes, making them ideally suited for short-distance and light vehicles. Hydrogen can store more energy in less weight, making fuel cells suitable for vehicles with heavy payloads and long ranges.
