The intermediate circuit (DC link) of the drive is connected to its nominal voltage for the appropriate amount of time to reform the capacitors. See Figure 1 for the required reforming time, which depends on how long the drive has been non-operational. • Switch on the power to the drive for the amount of time listed in Figure 1, Method 1.
Use method 2A or method 2B for capacitor reforming if the drives have been stocked (non-operational) for two or more years. Capacitors are reformed by switching in a rectifier and resistor circuit, which is connected to the drive input. The reforming circuit is given in figure 2 below.
The intermediate circuit (DC link) of the drive is connected to its nominal voltage for the appropriate amount of time to reform the capacitors. See Figure 3 for the required reforming time, which depends on how long the drive has been non-operational. Use line b for ACH/AYK580. 1. Switch on the power to the drive for 30 min.
The reforming time depends on how long the converter has been non-operational and on the converter module type. Without reforming, the capacitors can get damaged when the converter starts to operate. If the converter has been non-operational for less than one year, the capacitors do not need reforming.
You are expected to know the standard electrical wiring practices, electronic components, and electrical schematic symbols. The manual provides information needed for reforming the converter module capacitors. This manual is applicable with drive, inverter and converter modules which have electrolytic DC capacitors in the DC link.
Capacitor reforming is based on DC power supply, which is connected to converter DC link. Power supply current charges the converter capacitors. If power supply cannot limit the current, voltage is increased gradually (with e.g. 100 V steps). Maximum recommended reforming current is 500 mA. An appropriate reforming voltage is (1.35 ...
