The results show a great difference in temperature at various heights of the battery cabinet. The batteries of the lower height level have a temperature about 25°C; the batteries of the higher height level have a temperature near 55°C. There are also differences in the temperature distribution for various battery cabinets.
The strategies of temperature control for BTMS include active cooling with air cooling, liquid cooling and thermoelectric cooling; passive cooling with a phase-change material (PCM); and hybrid cooling that combines active and passive cooling . Studies of the BTMS involve battery modeling and the investigation of the cooling solutions.
This new cooling strategy improved the temperature inhomogeneity by reducing the temperature uniformity between cells by 3.2 °C and by reducing the consumed cooling flow by 38 %. Shi et al. investigated the effect of setting the air inlet on the side wall of the battery pack to the internal temperature field.
