In recent years, solar photovoltaic technology has experienced significant advances in both materials and systems, leading to improvements in efficiency, cost, and energy storage capacity. These advances have made solar photovoltaic technology a more viable option for renewable energy generation and energy storage.
Li-ion and flow batteries can also provide market oriented services. The best location of the storage should be considered and depends on the service. Energy storage can play an essential role in large scale photovoltaic power plants for complying with the current and future standards (grid codes) or for providing market oriented services.
The cost and optimisation of PV can be reduced with the integration of load management and energy storage systems. This review paper sets out the range of energy storage options for photovoltaics including both electrical and thermal energy storage systems.
Based on the study, it is concluded that different energy storage technologies can be used for photovoltaic and wind power applications.
Hence, the development of materials with superior properties, such as higher efficiency, lower cost, and improved durability, can significantly enhance the performance of solar panels and enable the creation of new, more efficient photovoltaic devices.
