The Slovak Battery Alliance (SBaA) is an independent advocacy group. The only cluster in Slovakia, SBaA operates in the fields of strategy, legislation and communication to build a comprehensive battery chain in Slovakia.
The first battery gigafactory in Slovakia will be located in Šurany on a 95-hectare area and will create thousands of jobs. In the initial development stage, it will have a capacity of 20 GWh with the further potential to reach a capacity of up to 40 GWh.
Europe will see another battery plant come online in 2026. China-based battery maker Gotion High-tech and Slovak startup InoBat plans to build a battery factory in Slovakia. The facility will initially have an annual production capacity of 20GWh. Gotion and Inobat have formed a joint venture, Gotion Inobat Batteries (GIB), for the project.
The news came after Gotion said in September that it aims to build a battery plant in Middle Europe with Inobat, of which it has acquired a 25% strategic stake. According to the MoU signed on Wednesday, GIB plans to begin constructing the factory in 2024. The Slovak government will offer subsidies to the project and arrange the land.
InoBat and GUS Technology enter a strategic partnership to produce InoBat batteries. InoBat signs declarations of intent with Spain for construction of new EV battery manufacturing plant. InoBat and Cosworth enter strategic partnerships to utilize InoBat’s unique battery cells in Cosworth’s electrification programs.
Its aim is to participate in the battery value chain in Europe. The Alliance was established in 2019 and has received with the bronze European Cluster Management Excellence Label, which is awarded by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis. It is a member of the European Battery Alliance.
