Through the utilisation of solar PV-based generation and BESS with wireless/contactless power transmission, the proposed method offers an easy-to-setup and flexible alternative solution for the emergency power supply (EPS) for household appliances and wireless electric vehicle (EV) charging for all weather conditions.
This innovative 192 MW solar facility uses ABB switchgear and power protection equipment to ensure the reliable integration of the plant's electricity into the grid, even across vast distances. Before anyone can deploy, integrate or optimize renewable energy sources, the underlying infrastructure must be built.
To improve the resilience of the power system, an optimum sizing of PV generation and battery is proposed in Zhang B et al. (2017). In solar PV generation, converters would be connected between the PV array, battery and loads. Generally, the DC-DC boost converter is added for the PV panel to extract the maximum power from the panel.
Solar photovoltaic (PV) generation, in particular, is the rapidly expanding sector for standalone household and electric vehicle (EV) charging applications. The efficiency of stand-alone PV generation can be further enhanced by implementing energy management systems to optimise energy use and reduce fossil waste.
This highlights the large potential for solar PV expansion. Adequate policies are needed to ensure that high installation rates are maintained in the short term and that the potential environmental, social, and economic benefits of solar PV are effectively materialized.
In 2010, no large power system existed in which solar PV supplied more than 3% of the annual demand. In 2019, solar PV supplied 9% of electricity demand in Germany and 19% in California (Figure 5). Existing plans contemplate penetration higher than 20% in several power systems by 2030. Figure 5.
