Direct use of parameters such as ultrasonic amplitude, frequency, and ToF for SOC estimation has accuracy issues, but ultrasonic detection methods have a wealth of data available for analyzing the internal state of the battery. These features make it possible to implement the ultrasonic method using data-driven approaches. Fig. 4.
Liu et al. proposed a fault diagnosis and type identification method based on weighted Euclidean distance assessment and statistical analysis, which can effectively detect voltage inconsistencies in battery packs, and experiment results have demonstrated that this method has strong robustness and high accuracy.
Currently, there are several methods for battery defect detection: (1) Dismantling the battery to inspect internal defects . This method is costly and does not preserve the sample. (2) Employing infrared thermal imaging technology to detect defects [149, 150].
The research monitors the battery system's state based on fault precursors and characteristic extraction, allowing for better assessment of battery operating conditions and providing maintenance decisions. Furthermore, researchers establish physical, chemical, and multi-field coupling models, etc. to warn fault precursors.
A comprehensive overview and analysis of the technical approaches, challenges, and solutions for the application of ultrasonic technology in battery state estimation is provided. The current state, main technical approaches, and challenges of ultrasonic technology in battery defect and fault diagnosis are summarized.
Moreover, ultrasonic technology allows for real-time monitoring and imaging, facilitating prompt detection of internal defects in batteries. It also enables personalized detection solutions tailored to different battery types.
