To build a solar tracker system, you'll need all of the necessary components, such as a solar panel, a microprocessor, and servo motors. You can buy a "Solar Project Kit" that includes all of the necessary components in one package. The project will then be simple to implement.
This project aims to get energy from the Sunlight. To do that, we’ll make a solar tracker system which has two-axis and lots of light sensors. The system will follow the light source and catch the energy with its solar panel. Then the system will be able to store the clean solar energy to use later. Project has a few building steps.
There are 3 main methods which are used to control a solar tracker. The first is a passive control system, and the other two are active control systems. The passively controlled solar tracker contains no sensors or actuators but changes its position based on heat from the Sun.
The solar tracking kit launched by KEYES is based on Arduino. It consists of 4 ambient light sensors, 2 DOF servos, a solar panel and so on, aiming at converting light energy into electronic energy and charging power devices.
Integrate the 3.7V battery to the circuit, ensuring the system has a power backup. Connect the push on-off switch to the control circuit, allowing you to manually control the solar tracker's operation. To simplify the wiring process, I've provided a schematic diagram below.
The passively controlled solar tracker contains no sensors or actuators but changes its position based on heat from the Sun. By using gas with a low boiling point in a container mounted on hinges at its middle, similar to a see-saw, the solar panel can change its position based on the direction of heat from the Sun.
