It should be noted here that the value of the capacitance used in the compensator design must be the small signal value. Ceramic capacitors lose some portion of their capacitance as their biasing voltage increases. The MLCC capacitors which are used in this example have 22μF nominal capacitance.
The compensation type is determined by the location of zero crossover frequency and characteristics of the output capacitor as shown in Table 1. Step 5 - Determine the desired location of the poles and zeros of the selected compensator (this will be explained for each type of compensator).
To measure the internal resistance accurate the channel 2 probe must be placed as close as possible at the capacitor. The resistor Rs must have approximately the same value as the impedance of the capacitor. De first method describes the measurement of small capacitors whereof the series resistance is negligible. Fig. 5: Mathematical model.
Another way to measure the capacitance is to include the unknown capacitor in a resonance circuit. The accuracy is directly dependent on the used reference inductor. Inductors with a small tolerance are rare and expensive. Fig. 11: Resonance method measuring arrangement for capacitors.
In addition, a better understanding of the internals of the op amp is achieved. The minor-loop feedback path created by the compensation capacitor (or the compensation network) allows the frequency response of the op-amp transfer function to be easily shaped.
A compensator is made up of an operational amplifier, configured as a complex filter by careful choice of the external passive components. In the context of a voltage mode buck regulator, the operational amplifier is a part of the circuit, and its characteristics may have some effect on the circuit’s behavior, which is why the basic operational amplifier parameters are included.

That was chosen so practical values of resistors would cover the ranges they were interested in, but the maximum it could measure was 1100 uF, not all that large. The GR 1617 was of similar design, but could measure far higher due to using 0.1 and 0.01 ohm resistors in its divider. We can
