It can be seen that PV power potential in North China will significantly increase by 5–10 Wm −2 under the sustainable development path of SSP126 and SSP245 from 2080 to 2100. In addition, the PV power potential in different scenarios and periods show similar spatial characteristics, differing only in magnitude.
The abundant zone of solar energy has a share of more than 67%, with its radiation of more than 5000 MJ/m 2 yr and more than 2200 h of sunshine , . Many areas in China, such as Tibet, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia, can produce vast supplies of solar energy with annual solar radiation of more than 1750 kWh/m 2 .

By increasing the carbon price from $0 to $100 per tCO 2, deployment of PV and wind power benefits the poorest residents, with an increase in per-capita income from $29,000 to $34,400 in North China and from $29,100 to $30,600 in Northwest China.
The installed solar PV capacity in China increasing from 130.25 GW in 2017 to 392.61 GW in 2022 (IRENA, 2023).
