As such, it is important that existing available risk assessment techniques need to be improved for applicability to storage and energy system of the future, especially in large scale and utility. This paper evaluates methodology and consideration parameters in risk assessment by FTA, ETA, FMEA, HAZID, HAZOP and STPA.
Then, the proposed method is test on a power system which is adapted from the IEEE 24-bus system. The numerical results show that diverse energy storages can improve risk assessment results of the power system. Published in: 2021 Power System and Green Energy Conference (PSGEC)
This work describes an improved risk assessment approach for analyzing safety designs in the battery energy storage system incorporated in large-scale solar to improve accident prevention and mitigation, via incorporating probabilistic event tree and systems theoretic analysis. The causal factors and mitigation measures are presented.
Despite widely known hazards and safety design of grid-scale battery energy storage systems, there is a lack of established risk management schemes and models as compared to the chemical, aviation, nuclear and the petroleum industry.

Researching advanced battery management algorithms is crucial for improving the safety of containerized lithium-ion BESS. Compared to electric vehicles, these systems have many safety monitoring and measuring devices, making it possible to establish a more accurate safety warning mechanism.
