Power batteries are the core of new energy vehicles, especially pure electric vehicles. Owing to the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry in recent years, the power battery industry has also grown at a fast pace (Andwari et al., 2017).
In the Special Project Implementation Plan for Promoting Strategic Emerging Industries “New Energy Vehicles” (2012–2015), power batteries and their management system are key implementation areas for breakthroughs. However, since 2016, the Chinese government hasn’t published similar policy support.
OEMs will need to tailor their choice of battery to both the product roadmap and corporate strategy. Over 250,000 electric cars were sold globally every week in 2023, more than the total sold in a year just a decade ago. As more people buy electric vehicles (EVs), the demand for EV batteries also increases.
To promote the use of NEVs, multiple values of battery recycling in terms of economic benefits and environmental protection are considered. As a crucial component of EVs, power batteries have become a core part of research and development in the growing market of NEVs. Current, weight, performance, storage capacity, and a lifetime of power batteries are key areas of research that are essential for the continued success of the NEVs market.
