Image: Sungrow. The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has awarded 587MW of solar-plus-storage in its latest innovation tender. As has been the case in many of Germany’s recent solar PV auctions, the innovation tender ended up oversubscribed, with 154 bids made for 1.8GW of capacity out of 583MW tendered capacity.
The October 2023 iteration of the innovation auction was oversubscribed and awarded 408MW of solar-plus-storage capacity. At the same time, the government announced the results of its latest onshore wind auction, where over 2.3GW of capacity was awarded, which it said “set a new record”. The latest Innovation Tender in Germany has concluded, with 32 solar-plus-storage projects totalling 408MW awarded contracts.
Launched in 2020, the innovation tender seeks to combine several renewable resources, however as shown in the latest auction all bids submitted have been for the combination of solar PV with energy storage.
It was slightly undersubscribed as 23 projects, all of them for a combination of solar power and storage systems, with a total capacity of nearly 250 MW were submitted. Six of the bids were excluded from the tender.
